training calendar
June 26, 2005 - Sunday 7:30AM There was a huge ass helicopter at the top which landed and took off again. It was an awesome sight. Some guy that lived at the Sturtevant camp was going on about how "some" bikers were destroying the trails. This came as a surprise to us because the trails seem to be in phenominal shape (except for the sandy switchbacks at the top). He was a cool guy though and even offered to give us water whenever we drop by. Richard was the fastest and had the best rock jump. Everyone else was pretty quick too, but Jeff definitely gets most improved. In a few months he'll be the one to catch because he's getting faster every week. Oh, I forgot to mention it, but 2 weeks ago we almost ran into a big black bear that was right on the trail. He took off quick, but that did more to wake us up than Starbucks. May 8, 2005 - Sunday 7:00AM Sturtevant Only for people showed up today because it was mother's day (CJ, Jeff, JP, & Simon). CJ had a nasty crash in the rockgarden, but he was unhurt. Without a full-face he would have broken his jaw for sure. The ride was fast, but we missed a turn and went down the wrong trail which cost us some extra time. CJ pulled off a flawless jump in the middle of the trail and he did a jump at the bottom and crashed hard. CJ definitely gets the BB (biggest b...) award for today's ride. We got to hang out with some jackasses at Chantree, no seriously, there are a bunch of friendly donkeys up there that will stick their noses into your camelbacks looking for food. We'll have to bring them some treats next time.
May 1, 2005 - Sunday 7:00AM Sturtevant Fun ride with a bunch of people. JP, Scott, Jeff, Carlos, Russel, June, Hans, David; did I miss anyone?
April 24, 2005 - Sunday 5:00AM San Juan Trail Yes, we had to get up at 5 am for this one. It was raining all the way there. When we finally arrived (Scott, Hans, Chris, JP, Carlos) it was cold and wet. The trail was like a creek. The terrain was like red clay and you would sink into it when pushing your fat DH bike up the hill. The foilage was overgrown which made our suffering ever worse. After a few miles of torture, the downhill part was the ultimate payoff. It was a fast descent, really fast, with some awesome switchbacks that you would just rail. Can't wait to do this trail again when it is dry. We finally got back at about 1:30 covered in mud.
April 23, 2005 - Saturday 9:00AM Mt. Wilson Shuttle Run Jeff brought his new IronHorse "7 point 7". First big ride on that bike and Jeff is already going faster than I have ever seen him go! CJ, JP, and Tony went too. Great day, great ride with no crashes.
March 20, 2005 - Sunday 7:00AM Redbox to Switzers JP and Jeff and Carlos did 3 runs. As I came around a corner, fairly slow (7-10mph), I had to do a small skid to avoid some hikers that didn't seem to comprehend the phrase "multi-use trail". I stopped about 4 feet from them which is plenty of room. They said, "you scared the hell out of us!". I often wonder if a lot of the hikers don't exaggerate a bit. I know that it must be scary seeing a guy in full gear, sliding towards you on a bike, but I was going pretty slow and in full control. I have come to the conclusion that there are inevitably always going to be hikers of the activist variety that hate anything that travels on two wheels. So, I'll continue to be as polite as possible, have a great time on my rides, and not worry too much about offending the militant hiker types. There aren't very many things in this world that scare the hell out of me. Now a jaguar, a bear, or maybe a crazy stalker girl, that is the stuff that nightmares are made of.
February 27, 2005 - Sunday 8:00AM Sunset / El Prieto Carlos and JP rode up the steep pavement to get to Sunset. That kinda took the fun out of it. Sunset was in okay shape, but not that good. Redbox is much more fun.
February 26, 2005 - Saturday 9:00AM Redbox to Switzers CJ, JP and Jeff went. Water crossings were high. Otherwise, the trail was in great shape. We shuttled up twice. A Harley biker went down on Angeles Crest Highway. His leg was pretty messed up. He wasn't even going that fast but he hit some gravel. We should have some pics up soon of the Sherriff helicopter dropping supplies in.
February 13, 2005 - Sunday 9:45AM Sugar Loaf - Glendale, CA CJ, JP and Dante hung out and did some jumping. We did a little fixing to the drop and we were getting from 6-8 feet without much speed. There we met Brian who may be coming on some of our rides in the near future. We also met up with a real nice guy who tears up the single track. This guy is in his mid 70s and shows no sign of slowing down! We couldn't get him to do the drop though. We hit some singletrack on the way out. Most of the trails are closed due to erosion.
February 09, 2005 - Wednesday 8:00PM El Prieto - CA Chris and JP went up Brown and down the LPT (El Prieto Trail). Water levels were slightly higher, but only a fraction more than usual. It is still impossible to make every water crossing on a hardtail XC bike. It was really warn on the way down. Trail is in pretty nice shape now. We will have to start doing night rides on Wednesdays on a regular basis.
February 08, 2005 - Tuesday 10:00AM El Prieto - CA Just a quick ride for Carlos and JP
February 05, 2005 - Saturday 8:00AM Mt. Wilson - CA We did a shuttle run from Mt. Wilson (CJ, JP, Jeff). The hikers were really cool to us, but then again, we didn't surprise anyone by coming around a corner at 35mph. We came down from Wilson, did Sunset, and then El Prieto. Conditions were perfect and we all had an awesome ride. February 01, 2005 - Tuesday 10:00AM El Prieto - CA Today we did some major fixing of El Prieto. We replaced a small rock drop that used to exist. The big stream crossing was not rideable due to a 3' drop into the stream. We created a ramp to the stream, and put enough flat rocks in there to make it rideable. The existing log that is there is great for hikers, but bikes can't cross it and it is creating a deep water crossing by damming up the stream. We diverted a little water around the log to stop the damming, but we left the log there for the hikers to cross; after all, it is a multi-use trail. The last thing we fixed was a big boulder in the middle of the trail. People were just going around it and messing up the hillside next to it. We made it into a rock drop and put a bypass trail around the rock between the rock and the hill for the hikers, and for the lycra wearing guys that can't hop off small rocks. El Prieto is even more rideable now. On the way out we saw a bobcat. It was really cool and I got 5 feet from it. It just sat there looking at me. I must have looked like good eatin' to the cat. January 30, 2005 - Sunday 7:30AM Verdugo Viper - La Canada, CA Riders: Jeff, Carlos, Russel, and JP We went up the Verdugo Viper trail. This was a lot of climbing. The descent was nice, but it is all overgrown and really rutted out. It would have been a lot more fun if we cleared some brush first. It doesn't look like any bikes have hit this trail in a month or so.
January 29, 2005 - Saturday 10:30AM Brown Mountain / El Prieto - Pasadena, CA Riders: JP I went up at 10:30 with a shovel thinking that the trail would be a mess after the last rain. The trail is in great shape! I did do my part and shaved about 3 feet off of a slide to make it rideable for the XC folks. Here are a couple of pics
January 23, 2005 - Sunday 7:00AM Glendale (the verdugos) - CA Riders: Carlos, Jeff Carlos and Jeff both crashed! It was a steep and technical ride.
January 22, 2005 - Sunday 8:00AM Undisclosed Location - CA Riders: Tony, CJ, JP, Carlos, Jeff We did our "trail maintenance" again today. We built the drop up a little higher, but it needs some grooming. We had some near misses today, but nobody crashed. Carlos got too much speed and ended up landing on his front wheel about 10 feet down. He was pretty close to needing a new set of teeth! January 16, 2005 - Sunday 8:00AM Undisclosed Location - CA Riders: CJ, JP, Carlos, Andrew, Jeff Today we brought shovels and fixed a jump. Then we built a small drop. You can get anywhere from 3-10 vertical feet off the drop and we were doing about 4-6 depending on our speed. We jumped for about 2 hours and then did some downhilling. P.S. - we built the drop in an unobtrusive place and we didn't modify the landscape. We also FIX a lot of trails when we ride. The guys that are building up doubles ON THE FIRE ROAD where everybody walks by are going to get everyone in trouble! If you guys are reading this and you care at all about keeping trails open for bikes, please STOP BUILDING ON THE FIRE ROAD! January 15, 2005 - Saturday 2:00PM Chumash Trail - Simi Valley, CA Riders: Chris, JP Today most of the trails were closed. Chris and I rode the Chumash trail. This place is so rocky that there were no landslides and the trail was in great condition. We had a good climb (1,100 ft in 2.5 miles). We just did a climb and rode back down. The trail was is such good condition that we flew down it pretty fast. We had our XC bikes so we didn't do any freeriding. It was just awesome to get out to ride in the sun for a change. January 9, 2005 - Sunday 7:00AM Brown Mountain / El Prieto - Pasadena, CA Riders: Carlos, JP, Scott There was a storm watch today with heavy rain, flooding and flash flood warnings. We said screw it, and rode anyhow. The water level was so high on the lower Brown trail that it was actually coming out of the flood channel and on to the paved road that leads to Brown Mountain. If you got caught on the lower trail in this storm, you would probably be dead. Climbing brown was a treat. There were about 3 landslides on the way up with trees covering the entire fire road. We wore ponchos and rain gear, but after sweating on the way up, we were soaked through anyhow. El Prieto was a wreck. There were at least 6-7 landslides that we had to climb over. There is a part where the trail spilts and you can do the high road. Well, the high road was gone and impassable due to a huge landslide. The lower trail wasn't much better. There were two small landslides where we had to hand our bikes to one another to get across. The water crossings were insane. I tried to cross one and went in up the the handlebars. The rest of the lower trail? There was no lower trail. It was all a big river. We had to walk down the river in the strong current holding our bikes. The rest of the trail was nice! The jumps that people built up, at least the ones that the storm didn't destroy, were very smooth. My only regret was that I didn't bring a camera on this ride. I would have taken some pics of the raging lower river. It was truely a sight, and it was hard to believe that there was that much water on our favorite trail. I am glad that we were stupid enough to make this trip though, because it was a blast, landslides and all!
January 2, 2005 - Sunday 7:00AM Sugar Loaf - Glendale, CA Riders: Carlos, JP, Jeff Wanted to do Mt. Wilson but it was snowed in and we didn't have chains. Tried to go to Sunset trail, but the road was closed. We settled for Sugar Loaf. We did the downhill section a couple of times, did a few small jumps and had fun.
December 26, 2004 - Sunday 7:30AM La Tuna Canyon - Glendale, CA Riders: Carlos, JP, Randy Did some small jumps today. Flew down the singletrack. Conditions were slippery with lots of loose gravel/sand. No major spills today.
October 5, 2003 - Sunday 7AM October 4, 2003 - Saturday 8AM to 2:30PM Corba 16th annual birthday bash - Malibu Creek State Park, CA Did the advanced ride. It had a long hill climb, but we got to do some good singletrack. March to October 2003 Got lazy and didn't list all the rides we have been on. March 22, 2003 - Saturday 3PM Fontana, CA Riders: JP, Steve We pre-rode the race course today. This course will be tough but it is fun too. Can't wait for tomorrow! Injuries: JP burned his leg on the disc brake. Bike damage: JP broke a chain March 19, 2003 - Wednesday Night 7:00PM Brown Mountain/El Prieto Trail, Pasadena, CA Riders: Geoff, JP, Bryant, Carlos and Steve An awesome run down El Prieto. Brant had a small crash, but then fell off the cliff into some thorny bushes! Ouch! At least the bushes saved him from falling all the way down hundreds of feet. Everybody is getting a lot faster. Injuries: a few thorns in Bryant Bike damage: none March 14, 2003 - Friday Night 8:30PM La Tuna Canyon Trail, CA Riders: JP, Christopher, Dod and Allen We met these two guys climbing La Tuna, and they were going to do the singletrack, so we went with them. JP with the dinky night light and Chris with zero experience on the La Tuna singletrack, blasted the trail like it was nothing. JP got creative on a side trail and did a fun flip over the bars. Injuries: JP scraped up his leg. Bike damage: none March 12, 2003 - Wednesday Night 7:30PM Brown Mountain/El Prieto Trail, Pasadena, CA Riders: Geoff, JP, Brian, and ... JP's light burned out, so he had to blaze El Prieto on a little backup light (scary). Geoff's light bounced off his bike once again, but this time his bike didn't go off a cliff. Injuries: none Bike damage: none March 9, 2003 - Sunday Brown Mountain/Ken Burton Trail, Pasadena, CA Riders: Vic, Hugh, Roberto, Wayne, JP, Rob Trail is way overgrown with brush. A really fun ride still with a super fast descent. We got to do some drops off a concrete slab into the stream too. Injuries: Vic is still suffering from his Monrovia Canyon crash. Bike damage: Roberto lost a main bolt in his suspension linkage. March 8, 2003 - Saturday Brown Mountain/El Prieto, Pasadena, CA Riders: JP Injuries: none Bike damage: none March 5, 2003 - Wednesday Night 7PM Brown Mountain/El Prieto, Pasadena, CA Riders: JP, Geoff, and a few other Jones Bike's regulars We went down FAST at night. Fun. Geoff lost his bike and bailed off, letting his bike go off the mountain in darkness instead of him. Good move! Injuries: none Bike damage: none March 1, 2003 - Weekend Vail Lake Village X-Country MTB Race, Temecula, CA Riders: JP JP raced and was doing well until he lost 3 gears due to some bent rear sprockets. How did they get bent? No friggin clue. Maybe too much torque, or a rock or a stick. Who knows? Anyhow, he finished the race with a busted bike, but did not place well. Injuries: none Bike damage: busted gears Feb 14, 2003 - Weekend Utah, Gooseberry Mesa Riders: Jeremy, Dean, and more! Jeremy said that this was a good time! I will get more details from him later. Injuries: none Bike damage: none Feb 09, 2003 - Sunday Monrovia Canyon Somewhere Riders: hieu, and new rider, carlos gutierrez and vic and Wayne. Per Wayne: "nice fire road climb up monrovia canyon, almost to rincon - climbed to about 3700 feet and then a scream down fish canyon fire road, with about a 1/2 mile of single track at the bottom! great views and fast climbing (high percentage grades) up the canyon! total of about 15 or 16 miles- a keeper. some great spots to catch air on the way down fish canyon! Injuries: none Bike damage: none Feb 08, 2003 - Saturday Brown Mountain / El Prieto Riders: Vic, JP, Christopher, Rene, Scott, & Rene's Bro. JP tried to beat his best time in 50 degree weather. His asthma had other plans for him. Rene's crew rode half way up on their heavier downhill bikes, and did El Prieto. Victor chilled and cruised up the mountain saving his energy for the end, which is a strategy that works good for him. Christopher proved that he is no longer a beginner, and made it to the top in just over an hour. Not bad for a guy that has only done only 5 rides in the last 6 years. Injuries: none Bike damage: none Feb 02, 2003 - Sunday Brown Mountain / El Prieto Riders: Vic, JP, Roberto, Rob, Wayne, Hugh, Jose, and two of Hugh's friends. It started at 7AM with Wayne, Vic, and JP climbing to the top. Then they came back to the halfway point where they met up with everyone else. We all went down the El Prieto singletrack and did some jumping. Roberto proved that he is either fearless or completely insane by jumping with only a front brake. Pics of the trip Injuries: none Bike damage: none Feb 01, 2003 - Saturday Mt Pinos Today Vic, JP, Christopher, Dean, and Jeremy met up with Rene and his 4 person crew. Rene's boys shuttled to the top and had an agonizing wait for the rest of us who climbed the nine mile access road. Although this trip is usually one of the best in Southern California, a big percentage of the trail was covered in snow, which made about 60% of it a royal pain. As we all descended, the lower altitudes had no snow, and we got to experience at least some of that good singletrack. Pics of the trip Injuries: none Bike damage: none Jan 26, 2003 - Sunday Lukens FR to Grizzly flats to Hoyt single track to ACH to switzers and back to JPL Vic, JP, and Wayne did this monster of a trip. Here is what Wayne had to say about our day: "this had it all- grinding fire road climbs, sweet descents through exposed cliffside ride gardens, twisting tunnels through high chaperel, stream crossings, serious steep uphill singletrack and of course, thrills and spills. of the 28+ miles about twelve was great single track, sixteen was fire road and the rest was tar. JP took a tumble, showing how to go through rocks- Vic tried a swan dive into about 4 inches of water and decided to land on his hands and walk off the bike that way. They toughed it out ! The promo was right- wannabees would have been off the cliff! Definitely one to repeat!" Pics of the trip Injuries: minor injuries for JP, and a bad leg cramp for Vic Bike damage: none Jan 25, 2003 - Saturday Brown Mountain / El Prieto Vic, JP, Chris, Roberto, and Rob made the trip. JP beat his best time by almost 5 minutes. Christopher did better too. Vic cruised up, because he didn't want to wear himself out for Sunday's ride. On the way down JP had his first big crash at speed. The front tire had too much air pressure and slipped out on a turn, sending him over the bars. Roberto showed JP what a real crash was like. He crashed at speed too, but on some sharp rocks! Injuries: minor injuries for JP and Roberto Bike damage: none Jan 19, 2003 - Sunday Brown Mountain / El Prieto Wayne, JP, Hugh, Chris, and Roberto went to Brown. Albert went with a friend to Sugarloaf to improve his biking skills. Wayne barely got the stitches out from his San Juan accident two weeks ago, but he still beat everyone up the mountain. Unfortunately, this may have been Hugh's last ride with us for a long time, as he may be sent to work in New Jersey for two years. Chris made it to the top this time with relative ease and no nausea! He may be the one to watch out for because he is going to catch up to all of us fast. Roberto bounced off a rock wall on the final mile of the singletrack, and wen't over the bars and off the trail. Remarkably he wasn't injured. A guy that was riding behind him wrecked too and smashed his deraileur and bent his frame. Trip Pics Injuries: none Bike damage: none Jan 18, 2003 - Saturday Mount Lukins Only Vic and JP went on this one. Mileage logged was about 26 miles, but it was a grueling 13 miles from the JPL parking lot to the top of the mountain. Injuries: none Bike damage: JP 3 flats :( Jan 12, 2003 - Sunday Brown Mountain / El Prieto Joe, Chris, JP, and Vic went, and we rode part of it with Rene and his bro. Chris's exact words were, "JP, I'm seriously going to turn around because I'm gonna puke!" After JP coerced Chris to keep going, Chris caught his breath and finished the trip. This was his first MTB outing in about 6 years. Chris was glad that he pushed himself, and he blazed through the remaining singletrack better that a lot of frequent riders, with one embarrassing crash on the last 10 feet of the trail! Good job Chris! Injuries: none Bike damage: none Jan 11, 2003 - Saturday Brown Mountain / El Prieto Vic, JP, Dean, Kim and Roberto went. Vic smoked everybody on his way to the top, as always. Roberto forgot his shoes, but that didn't stop him! He rode the whole way in sandals! Kim really improved on her time! Kudos go to her on this trip! Injuries: none Bike damage: none Jan 5, 2003 - Sunday San Juan Trail - Orange County Wayne, Vic and JP blazed the trail. It was a hot 83 degrees and the weather was perfect. At almost the 8th mile of the climb, Wayne was climbing a rock garden when a downhiller came flying at him. The rocket scientist on wheels stopped in front of Wayne in the middle of the trail. Wayne had nowhere to go, and decided to pick the best spot to fall. As he avoided a sharp stick that was about to spear him, Wayne's leg was bitten by a sharp rock. It was a gaping 1 and 1/2 inch gash, and you could see the meat inside Wayne's leg. Did we carry him out? No friggin way. Wayne was tough enough to ride wounded almost 8 miles back down to the car. We spent the rest of the day at the Kaiser hospital in Mission Viejo and waited for Wayne to get stiched up! There are some gory pics of Wayne's crash! Injuries: Another injury crash. Wayne split his leg open on a rock and needed 9 stitches. Bike damage: none Jan 4, 2003 - Saturday Brown Mountain / El Prieto Vic, JP, Jeremy, Dean, and Kim went. Kim did great on the hill climb and made it to the halfway point. JP took the Foes, and stopped half way too, while the others rode the the top. El Prieto was rad, and we took are time coming down to do some jumping and take pics. See Pictures Injuries: none Bike damage: none Dec 29, 2002 - Sunday Mt. Wilson Riders were Hugh, Wayne, Vic, JP and Dean. This was awesome. It was about a 26 mile trip with about 10 miles or so of non-stop climbing. It was a great day, but near freezing at the top of the mountain. Riding the rode in the mountain's shadow was like riding through a big freezer. Although Dean lost control coming downhill, and JP lost it on the ice, the most dangerous part of the trip was the downhillers coming up the road in a truck halfway into our lane. They almost took 2 of us out. pics of the trip Injuries: major leg cramps for Hugh Bike damage: JP (1 sharp rock = 2 flats), Hugh (1 flat) Dec 28, 2002 - Saturday Brown Mountain / El Prieto Vic and JP went on this as a training ride for Sunday's Mt. Wilson ride. The day was perfect and the weather could almost be considered warm. Vic flew up the mountain all the way up to the top, beating his previous record. JP beat his previous record to the half way point, but pushed too hard and got a nose bleed leading to the dry heaves. Fun! El Prieto was rockin. Can't wait for tomorrow! Injuries: none Bike damage: JP's rear hub got contaminated and had to be rebuilt. Dec 26, 2002 - Thursday Mt. Pinos Vic and Wayne did this one. Vic's first words were, "dude, you're lucky you didn't go". After they rode the top on the paved highway, they attempted to "bike-ski" down the singletrack in waist high snow. This is what Wayne had to say about it: "not quite waist deep snow, but a good bike drag. snow in your spokes, and endos that you can stop by reaching down to the snow... glad that no wimps went for this ride- it was eerily beautiful, deep forest, deep snow, the quiet interrupted only by bird call and the frantic beating of your heart as you go anaerobic carrying your bike through the snow." trip pics Injuries: none Bike damage: none Dec 24, 2002 - Tuesday Yet another Brown Mountain ride JP went solo with the Foes. It took a while to get that heavy bike up the hill, and it was dark coming down the El Prieto singletrack. Really, REALLY, bad idea to do this leg alone and in the dark. Rocks and drops are invisible, and it gets cold when it gets dark. Fortunately JP made it out okay, but will never atempt that again in darkness and alone. Injuries: none Bike damage: none Dec 22, 2002 - Sunday Ooops, I did Brown Mountain again The day was picture perfect. It was warm when you weren't riding in the mountain's shadow. Vic, JP, and Wayne went to the top of Brown. JP was slow after a night of partying. It was freezing at the top! Wayne was difficult (alright impossible) to catch up to as always, but Vic was right behind him. It was El Prieto down and we got some good jumping in. pics of the trip Injuries:none Bike damage: Wayne lost a brake pad. JP blew out a rear tire on some rocks. Dec 21, 2002 - Saturday Brown Mountain up / El Prieto down Joe, Albert, Vic, JP, Karen, Jeremy, Dean, Greg, and Terry made it today. It was a blast. Greg, Albert, and Joe made it about half way, and then rode back down, while the rest of us kept climbing. Karen made it all the way to the top, which is about 6 miles (this is only her second hill climb!). The singletrack was tight as always, but Karen had a couple of crashes. Jeremy had to catch a flight, but he made sure that he got his ride in first! See our trip pics Injuries: Karen fell on her right shin and got a little bloodied up. Then, at the end of the trail, she hit a rock, flew over her bike, and fell off the side of the mountain. Karen's updated condition: hairline fracture Bike damage: JP bent his rear wheel slightly. WTB wheels must stand for weak, twisted, and bent. Dec 15, 2002 - Sunday Brown Mountain up / El Prieto down Vic and JP were the only ones to make it today. We met Larry and Chris on the way up, and they were nice enough to lend JP a shock pump for his new Kona. Thanks guys. On the way down we met Steve and Jose. Jose was just starting to ride again because he broke his collar bone going over the bars a few months earlier. Even so, these guys are still pretty fast downhill. We have some great pics of this trip Injuries: Steve's shock was bad. He hit a bump, his shock bottomed out and his pedal hit the ground hard. His boys met his seat in a bad way. Hopefully he doesn't want to have kids. He laid on the ground for a while and he was okay. Bike damage: JP bent his front wheel slightly Dec 14, 2002 - Saturday Sugarloaf JP, Vic, Jeremy, Albert, and Luis made it. We did some singletrack, downhill, and a lot of jumping. Albert and Luis are brand new first timers and they did great! Luis gets the award for best air for a beginner! Check out the pics Injuries: Just minor stuff. Luis scratched his arm on a crash. Jeremy got a small stick in his leg. He didn't even notice the stick until we got back to the cars! Bike damage: Victor bent his rear wheel Dec 10, 2002 - Tuesday La Tuna Canyon JP solo up the canyon. Gears were skipping back and forth, so finally I stayed in the granny gear all the way up for a very slow and long ride. Injuries: none Bike damage: skipping gear Dec 10, 2002 - Tuesday Mt. Pinos Vic, Dean, and Jeremy made this ride in the snow! There are some great pics of this trip Injuries: none Bike damage: none Dec 7, 2002 - Saturday Sugarloaf JP solo. Nobody else could get away and go ride :( Had a chance to try out the Foes. Takes a little effort to pedal uphill, but can take anything the mountain throws at it on the way down. Injuries: none Bike damage: none Dec 6, 2002 - Friday Brown Mountain Vic, Dean, and Jeremy went to Brown Mountain. At the half way point, they decided to go all the way up to Mount Wilson! Injuries: none Bike damage: none Dec 1, 2002 - Sunday Brown Mountain Vic, JP, Hugh, and Wayne went on this one starting at 7am. It was damn cold. Hugh and Wayne are pretty hard to catch going uphill. We did some jumping, but no real air. Coming down the back side was brutal and full of branches hanging over the trail. Injuries: Wayne hit his knee on a rock. Nothing serious. JP got poison oak! Bike damage: JP's large chainring bit a big rock. |
